Rideence Africa Limited ("Rideence", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through this website (rideence.com), why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to visitors, customers, prospective partners and anyone else who interacts with us through the site.
This policy is aligned in spirit with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 and, where relevant, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you have questions, please reach us using the details in Section 13.
2Who we are (data controller)
The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
- Rideence Africa Limited
- Registered address: Spring Garden Kileleshwa, A19, Nairobi, Kenya
- Email: info@rideence.com
- Telephone: +254 115 510 000
3What data we collect
We collect only what we need to respond to enquiries and operate the site.
- Information you provide directly — via contact, financial and partnership forms: your name, company / organisation, email address, phone number, enquiry type (lease / purchase / charging / partnership), vehicle of interest, and any message you include.
- Information collected automatically — when you browse, we may collect device and usage data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, referral source and approximate location, via privacy-respecting analytics and cookies (see Section 6).
- We do not collect special categories of data (e.g. health, religion, biometric) through this site, unless you voluntarily include them in a message.
4How we use your data
- Respond to your enquiry and prepare quotes or proposals.
- Provide and improve our products and services (leasing, sales, charging, assembly, finance).
- Operate, secure and analyse the website (including preventing abuse).
- Comply with legal, tax and regulatory obligations.
- With your consent, send relevant updates about our services.
5Legal basis
Where GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to handle enquiries and agreements); legitimate interests (to operate and secure the site); consent (for non-essential cookies and marketing); and legal obligation (for records and reporting). Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, we process data with your knowledge and for a lawful purpose connected to a service you request.
6Cookies & analytics
We use a minimal set of cookies: strictly necessary cookies to make the site work, and (with your consent where required) anonymous analytics cookies to understand traffic. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings; the site will still function. We do not sell your data to third parties.
7Who we share data with
- Group companies — our subsidiaries such as KenCharge Limited and Rideence Rwanda Limited, where needed to deliver services.
- Service providers — e.g. our form / email processor (Zoho) and analytics provider, acting on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
- Authorities — where required by Kenyan law or to protect our rights and users.
We require partners to protect your data and use it only for the agreed purpose.
8International transfers
Some providers (e.g. email and analytics) may process data outside Kenya, including in regions such as the EU or Asia. Where this occurs, we rely on the provider's standard contractual and security commitments to keep your data protected.
9Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law (for example, tax and contract records). Enquiry data is typically reviewed and purged or archived once the matter is closed, unless you become a customer or ask us to retain it.
10Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to: access your data; rectify inaccuracies; erase it; object to or restrict processing; data portability; and withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us (Section 13). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) of Kenya.
11Children
This website is intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18 without parental consent.
12Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be posted here.
